A sizzling performance by the Boeckenstedt Kennel has vaulted it to the top of the $60,000 Kennel Championship standings following round two on Saturday, Feb. 12, at Bluffs Run.

The Boeckenstedt’s four greyhounds collected 48 points for a two-month total of 74 points. The 48 is just a point short of the all-time month’s best produced in the kennel championship.

A perfect trifecta did the trick for Boeckenstedt. Boc’s Roundem Up won by two lengths with a box-to-wire effort in Grade A; Boc’s Provoker won by three lengths with a box-to-wire run in Grade B and Boc’s Muy Grande won by two lengths after breaking fourth in Grade C. Each win accounted for 15 points in the stakes series scoring system. The Wilhite Kennel moved into second place with a 35-point round for 66 total points. Flying Convex came from behind in the homestretch to win by two lengths in Grade B to pace Wilhite’s day.

Defending Kennel Championship champion Bean & Stout is third with 62 points, but garnered only 26 points in February. Hard Facts finished second in Grade C to pace Bean & Stout.

Blake & Black vaulted into fourth place with 61 points after a 39-point performance in February. Cheeky Monkey pulled away in the homestretch for a three-length win in Grade C while Little Andy in Grade A and O Ya Minnie in Grade B posted seconds. The third round of the $60,000 Kennel Championship is Saturday, March 5, with the entries due Wednesday, March 2.

The standings: Boeckenstedt 74; Wilhite 66; Bean & Stout 62; Blake & Black 61; Petzold Racing 58; Mickim 53; Plum Creek 53; Legg 53; Harlan Brothers 53; Woodall 50; Bartley Corp. 50; Keeper-Red Rock 42; Seastrom-Lovely 36; River Bluffs 33; Hardison
32.
