"I feel mighty proud to say I am top kennel right now even though we’ve just got started in the new meet," said Lambert. "We all know how fast that can change," he said with a chuckle. "I have new pups coming in soon and hope they pan out as well as the rest of the kennel has."
Two new names are now displayed on the kennel roster for the new season. Alabama kennel that has been tops in Daytona for many seasons has been added to the roster. James Hambleton has taken over Royal Racing Team replacing them with Hambleton Racing. Hambleton owns the St. Pete Derby champion Storm Rush.
Other news: Flying Coal City returns. America’s award winning Flying Coal City is back on track at Derby Lane. The male competes in his second required schooler on July 5 and will be back on the official roster for McAllister kennel. "It’s good to have the Coal Train back," said kennel owner Malcolm McAllister.
Upcoming stakes races are expected to be finalized in the next couple of weeks for the fall stakes held during the Tampa meet. "We will be wrapping the dates up within the next couple of weeks," said marketing director Fran Williamson.
